Mal Eastick, one of Australia’s finest Blues Rock Guitarists, has a passionate & explosive style that has lead him to play with some of Australia & the world’s biggest artists, such as Robert Cray, Los Lobos, Buddy Guy, George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Tommy Emmanuel, Jimmy Barnes and Kevin Borich during the last 30 years.
Mal’s early career was with legendary band, The Stars, & during the 1980s played in Jimmy Barnes’s Band and also formed his own touring outfit, that recorded Two albums, Southern Line and Spirit, both critically acclaimed.
In 1993, after experiencing two seizures, Mal was diagnosed with an abnormal tangle of arteries and veins (known as an “AVM”) in the left temporal lobe of his brain, but not until 2001 that surgery became possible, and almost 4 years away from the stage, Mal returned to playing live.
He returned to the stage in 2004 at the Longview Concert, It was an emotional & powerful performance, jamming with Kevin Borich & Legendary Joe Walsh.
Mal has now crafted a dynamic new show, drawing on his 30 year career & is broadening his musical horizons, through honky-tonk and rock, & now touring with vocalist John Makey as an acoustic duo.
Since his return to the stage, Mal’s played the Broadbeach Blues Festival, Thredbo Blues Festival & Bimbadgen Blues Festival Mal sure knows the blues, his musical ascendancy and versatility make his live shows truly memorable.
