2026 has started with great weather, entertaining AO tennis & fabulous numbers at our tennis complex.
Thursday social tennis has continued to expand, with locals & several repeat visitors joining us for 2hrs of fun tennis & great socialization. We’ve had a few of our regulars celebrate milestone birthdays & have enjoyed the cake & coffee to commemorate such achievements… & still playing great tennis!
Wednesday night has seen a steady group of keen players & more would be happily welcome to join them. (Best contact person is Mark DeWet 0416 639 925)
The Monday Ladies have also continued throughout the warmer weather & welcome new players. Best contact person is Sharon Hooper 0402 282 214.
Vicki Allman our resident coach, has been extremely busy & we are thrilled to hear of our juniors’ great achievements. Read her summary below.
2025/2026 SWR JUNIOR TENNIS
The end of 2025 was very busy at SWRCC Tennis Club with the finals of the South West Rocks Round Robins, Rally and Stroke Competitions and the 2025 SWRCC Tennis Club Championships.
All students tried their hardest at each event, sometimes after participating in other sports in the morning before their tennis competitions started in the afternoon, which is a fantastic effort. The SWRTC juniors have all played well showing good manners and sportsmanship throughout all the events. I couldn’t be happier with their behaviour and effort.
Our students from SWR Primary School also participated in the Todd Woodbridge Cup. Their effort and behaviour were outstanding on a very hot and trying day in Kendall. The South West Rocks Tennis Clinic was held in January. We had two very hot days, and the children all participated to the best of their ability while having a great time. The children all turned up with their best behaviour, and we had a lot of fun in the sun on the SWRCC Tennis Courts.
2026 PSSA (Primary Schools Sports Association) Lower North Coast Tennis Trials were held on Monday 9th February at Kendall and SWRCC Tennis Club had four students entered in the event. The event was very competitive with record numbers entering this event this year (60) with 4 girls and 4 boys selected for the Lower North Coast Team. Emme Bennett (Year 6 SWRPS) made the Lower North Coast Girls team (no. 3) and Nyah Appleyard (Year 6 SWRPS) came 5th and is number 1 reserve for the team to represent in Grafton. Max Weatherby (Year 6 SWRPS) played his heart out having to play 8 matches in the trials and made the team at No 4. Hayden Ballard (Year 5 SWRPS) just missed out but he has another opportunity next year.
All the SWR students showed great sportsmanship and endurance at this event. We wish our students all the best in March at the PSSA North Coast Competition in Grafton. Vicki Allman SWR Tennis Coach
